Purlins Guest Room
The Tyninghame Faces are cross continental! Two of the faces now reside in the Cape Town home of Jenna and Rainier.
This guest room has had two iterations of Tsila & Seek artworks, previously they hung a helichrysum garland over the bed, but have since moved the bed and the garland. Of the Tyninghame Faces, this is the only one that was requested to have a specific look. Jenna, a friend and compulsive face doodler, requested the face that is hanging in her guest room based on faces that she has repeatedly been doodling since moving into the house.
She said that the expression she is always trying to capture is someone who is sad but could also be seen as curious or questioning. Of the faces that have been commissioned so far, this one is by far the most expressive, and the read on the expression changes with the light, at times the light does portray a sadness, and other times, the shadow beneath his arched eyebrow highlights the expression of someone questioning, assessing, considering the benefits of an idea.
The paint colour is Little Greene’s Ashes of Roses.
